It was a busy Saturday night when I visited this pub for the first time. The food was awesome (especially the pretzels, shepherd's pie and brownie) and drinks were decent. If you go upstairs, you have to go to the bar for service but they give you a number to put at your table for when the food comes up. It has a sports bar vibe, so more for sports or watching a fight and less for conversation as it was loud. There were outside tables, if you could brave the heat.

Great uptown bar with social atmosphere. Its like always unintentionally packed by design lol. Not alot of open space unless you're on the patio (which has plenty of heating!) but enough space to get where you need and I liked it. Good options of finger foods that aren't heavy and love the drink selection

The Swedberg Squad heard this was the place to go for good food / drinks and to go crazy for the Pack!!! The fried cheese curds were the best we've had since leaving MN/WI 12 years ago...gonna try the brats this coming Sunday. The Pack lost because Aaron was out of the game with an injury, but the Squad won a great time and a new favorite place to make a lot of new best friends. GO PACK GO!!! Thanks Blackfriar!!!

I loved this place. The bar was super clean and had extremely friendly and attentive staff. They gave us some great options for drinks and as well as food. We had the pretzel with cheese which was amazing. There are other good food options as well. And if you like whiskey then you'll love this place. They have a great selection of some higher end whiskeys, some of which I have not seen before. A little pricey but you always expect to pay more for quality.

We go to a lot of different restaurants and like a lot them but Blackfriar is our #1 go-to. When we want to get away for a date night this is where you’ll find us. The food is good “pub food” the Irish Ruben is my fav the Blackfriar Burger is pretty dang good! The fish tacos are fried and that’s not my favorite but it’s an Irish Pub so it is what it is. Today I had the steak tacos, the steak was so tender and flavorful covered in Queso (it’s good but next I’ll ask them to ease up on the Queso). We love the patio which is a big plus... we love this place will always be our #1

My friends and I were out looking for food on a Sunday night in Dallas, and not much was open. We stopped in here, and the staff was more than accommodating. They kept the kitchen open a little later so that we could grab a bite to eat, and they treated us with the best customer service. We had no idea what to expect food wise, but when we received our food, everything was fresh and amazing. I am so glad we stopped at this restaurant. It was a great end to a crazy day, and next time I am in Dallas, I will be sure to go back.

I had a taste for fish and chips and Blackfriar Pub came up so I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. They gave you 3 large battered fish over a plate of steak fries, with sides of tartar sauce and lemon. The fish was thick and meaty and perfectly battered and fried. Not overdone and not underdone. Just juicy and perfect. The steak fries were a hit too, right on the mark. The tartar sauce was home made and spot on. This place is not gourmet but I got exactly what I came for and the quality and quantity was spot on. They had an indoor seating area and an extensive outdoor seating area. Everyone around me seemed to be enjoying their spirits. Overall I would recommend to my friends.

Great servers. Wait staff waited on me for an hour while I was only drinking water and waiting for the rest of my party. Bouncers were friendly and concerned about about everyone having the best experience. Which included quietly remove a drunk customer before he started act too crazy. Good place to hangout with friends and drink and play games that they provide free of charge. Again great staff, very friendly and welcoming.

The food is pretty good too we got a u couple of burgers with fries... The flavor was great.. they have the old fashioned glass ketchup bottles so make sure you know how those work (funny story from that night lol)

This pub is awesome!!! My first time here and the staff was awesome. The GM Chad made sure that I was well taken care of and sat down and talked with me. The pub is a great traditional style pub with all the modern amenities. If you like watching sports they have some nice big screens. If you want a dark corner to enjoy time alone with the that special someone they have that too. They serve great food and drinks. They have a large selection of beers and spirits. Outdoor patio with fire pit. Upstairs bar room and balcony that's really laid back. You can get whatever you want at this pub. Be sure you stop by and drop some cash here and be sure to tip the staff as they are wonderful. You won't regret it. I highly recommend this place.

Some of the best food I've had in Dallas. It is a loud and large pub so I was surprised at how good the food was. I've been there a number of times and every time the food is amazing. Ev ed thing I've ordered has been delicious. I miss the vegetarian shepherd's pie though...bring it back! If you're ever looking for late night food, definitely give this place a try. The fish tacos and buffalo cauliflower tacos blew my mind.

Built from a sprawling five bedroom house which was later converted into offices, I found much to admire wherever I looked. The front patio is a wonder of distressed woods, the staircase to the upper bar starkly beautiful in a industrial metallic style. Inside has lots more wooden constructs of note, most notably the back bar. According to my bartender the dark wood, Byzantine-looking creation came from a castle in Scotland owned by Pete Townsend who donated it to the Dallas Hard Rock Cafe. When that property was purchased for development the owners of Blackfriar purchased the back bar and installed it. It is impressive.I've been to Blackfriar twice and both times the food has been very good to excellent. This last time I tried the Chipotle Avocado Chicken Sandwich. The fries were cooked to perfection, nice and crunchy on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. The chicken patty itself was almost too big, as chunks of chicken fell on my plate as I ate. Amazingly, the same thing happened with the avocado. I mean, who ever gets too much avocado on their sandwich?! Seriously.The beer selection is good but not great. I drink the Easy Peasy IPA on draft, one of my favorites. Highly recommended.The two bartenders who have served me were both very friendly, professional, attentive and prompt. What more can you ask?EDIT The fish tacos are great!

This place was super cool! They have all of these lights outside and a lot of outside seating available. My friend and I ordered a couple of these cool mixed beer options they have and some queso and cheesy fries... yes super unhealthy but SOGOOD! If I lived here I would come all the time no doubt! The chips were so good and light and flakey. Yum! Will be back!

The Black Friar Pub's fish n chips are the closest to the ones we had in Ireland and my wife loves the Irish tarter sauce, it's way better than the tarter sauce in the states. We will definitely be going back for some fish n chips and Guinness.

Blackfriar Pub had a welcoming ambiance, and I was able to sit outside with my boyfriend and enjoy a nice selection of brews. They had some interesting beer/cider/spirit combinations, making their drink menu robust and hard to choose from due to the variety of tantalizing options! We enjoyed prompt and polite service from our waitress, who was cheerful and accommodating, and I loved that the pub allowed folks to bring their four-legged friends into the outdoor patio section.Overall, a very enjoyable experience. We will return!

Looking for welcoming late-night fare as a solo traveler on a weeknight near Love Field. Blackfriar stood out, and I'm pleased to have found it.Even during a service crunch, my waitress was poised and cheerful. Despite the bar being stacked three deep at one point, front of house staff kept cool.Despite Thursday tacos, as a first-timer, I was graciously guided to the fish & chips, which hit the spot, as did the atmosphere and general upbeat vibe inside.Would return; will recommend!

Looking for a different restaurant, we spotted the Black Friar Pub and we're so taken by the ambience that we stopped here instead. And we're so glad we did, the food was incredible, the pub was so quaint and comfy. We felt right at home and our server Brandy was fantastic! 5 stars for our favorite restaurant experience since moving to Dallas in September. 🙂

Nice place if your in uptown. Try the ginger beer, great guacamole and burgers. Parking is what it is but valet is 5 bucks and you can walk around to a lot of places elsewhere nearby.

I don't venture into Uptown often, but I took a ride on the M-line and decided to have a a snack and a cocktail. My fish tacos were great; I'll be having fish and chips on my next visit for sure! Unless I try some barbecue next Saturday- seems they're working up some live music, beer and barbecue afternoons. My partying days are behind me, but this is a patio I could hang out on. Service was outstanding!

One of my favorite bars for the past decade and going strong. Beautiful multi-level patio and indoor and outdoor seating, multiple bars, great music and friendly staff, fast service, strong drinks and good selection of beers alongside good food. Perfect location with amazing people watching, can be extremely busy weekends and packed with gorgeous people having a great time.

Blackfriar checks all the boxes for me, and for a group with lots of different tastes. We had some very well though out appetizers, and enjoyed a decent selection of craft beers, wines, and spirits. Our group was 6 different people from different parts of the country, and everyone found something to eat and drink they they enjoyed. I've been back multiple times and always recommend it as a solid option in this part of town.

What to say about the Black Friar?It's the essence of what I think a Pub should be... and trust me.. a lot of places get it wrong. The decor is dark and woody, the atmosphere is laid back, chill people and SUPER cool bartenders. Only downside is that the balcony is small. [On that note, they are currently working on building a second level, so the balcony being small is a temporary issue].I felt like I was at a frat house, but without the broken windows, chair on the lawn, and people jumping off the roof. It was a chill night, and we'll definitely be back soon!The bartenders were making some great drinks... started off with my fav. pinnacle whip and orange juice with a splash of sprite. Haven't had it? There's no name yet (I don't think), but it tastes like a dreamsicle.... mmmmm....Ok, so we'll definitely be back here again. But if you're in the neighborhood, stop in for a drink!

One of the best pubs with authentic fish & chips. The Ruben, fish tacos, and pistachio chicken- is god like! They also have a few vegetarian dishes! One of my favourites, The cheese board. It is an excellent choice as an appetizer, or after dinner desservir. The staff is friendly and attentive. You can enjoy the front patio with great views of the city and people watch on McKinney. Or go inside, find a dimly lit, intimate hand wood carved booth (gothic decor). The real deal, old world decor- carved ceiling and prayer panels. The drink menu is unreal. I'm not a beer drinker, but the hubby was over joyed with the mammoth selection of draughts, ciders, and bottles. Imports from Belgium, Germany, and a few other notables.. The prices are great, the kitchen is open until 1am, and I am getting hungry typing this.Date night boredom, or a break from suburbia Chili's, GO NOW, hurry! Black Friar Pub.

Favorite bar in Uptown. They have reasonable prices for drinks, good laid back atmosphere where I don't feel like I have to fist pump in order to fit in (*ahem The Den). Try the top deck for a good view of Downtown and a second bar that is usually less busy.

Came here looking for a particular beer which they had unfortunately just run out of. Bartender was very apologetic and proactively gave me several other beers to sample.. Very nice locals bar which was evident with the happy crowd and apparent regulars.. I am from out of state... I will return if given the opportunity. They fried cheese is not to be taken lightly.. Almost a meal in itself.. Very good
